Motocrossing in Orchard for the 1st Time!

As part of Channel U’s dedication to initiatives targeted at engaging youths, the channel will be presenting Asia’s first city motocross event in the heart of Singapore’s shopping district! Those who are looking for some action over the weekends can catch riders at the Channel U Motocross Challenge 2007 @ *scape from March 17 as they maneuver their bikes over runways and obstacles!

The first of such events in Asia, motocrossing is gaining popularity recently and this will be the first time that motocross is coming to Orchard Rd with Channel U as presenter of this high octane youth event supported by National Youth Council (NYC).

Mr Paul Chan, MediaCorp TV’s Vice President of Branding and Promotions says, “It has always been our objective to engage youths with our initiatives hence we are very excited to work with *scape and Motorcycle Safety and Sports Club (MSSC) to present this inaugural motocross event at a place these young people are familiar with.”

New to the sport, Project SuperStar champion Daren Tan is very excited to be a part of this event to help raise awareness of motocross amongst youths. “I’ve seen this in the movies and always wanted to try this out!” he said. Fans can also expect to catch their favourite Project SuperStar, Campus SuperStar and SuperHost contestants in various artistes’ relays over the next three months.

To be held on the third Saturday of the month, starting from March to May, this event is organized by Motorcycle Safety and Sports Club (MSSC) with safety support from Traffic Police. President of MSSC, Mr Ong Kim Hua says, “A lot of people worry about the safety aspects of this sport but in fact, it is very safe because the bikes used are mini bikes specially built for this mini race and riders are required to wear protective gear such as helmets, goggles, knee and elbow guards as well as gloves to protect them while riding.”
